We are experienced international travellers and this is probably the very best place we have ever stayed. The unique concept behind this amazing project of renovation combining contemporary style within medieval buildings works very well. The peaceful ambiance and the attention to detail in every aspect makes it very easy to highly recommend Domaine de Monteils. Richard and Frederic are wonderfully attentive hosts and more than willing to respond to any request, but respect the privacy of their guests. Two couples we met there had stayed on a number of occasions previously. We will definitely be following their example and booking for a stay next year!

So beautifully done with every appliance and furnishings of the very highest quality and impeccable taste. You won’t find 2 hosts who will treat you better, no matter what 5 star hotel you are at. This may not be a hotel but it is run better than many of the finest

The area is beautiful and Richard and Frederic were fantastic hosts, providing everything you could wish for - they were always available to help. One of best ever holidays. Welcoming and helpful hosts. Marvelous accommodation, hot tub under the stars ... What can I say!! Arrived intending to visit Avignon, Nimes etc but so fell in love with the small local medieval villages and towns esp Sauve and Sommieres and some great local restaurants, away from tourist madhouse, we decided not to bother. Richard and Frederic it was simply wonderful.

We have been busy since we got back to the UK after our holiday but thought we had to send you an email to say again how much we enjoyed staying at the Domaine de M in September. We have passed your details on to several people, and I am sure a few will head there. We meant it when we said that if you are coming to London, you'd be welcome here. Even just a meet up for a drink would be fun.

We had a wonderful time at the very nice home of Richard & Frederic. Our apartment was very tastefully furnished and carefully decorated. Everything we needed were there and much more. The huge park with pool are perfect for relaxing. During the first cold and rainy days we fall in love with the private jacuzzi at our terrace. The atmosphere of the whole complex is very calm, friendly and familiar. We had the feeling to stay at the home of friends. We will come back - sure!

We had a wonderful week at Domaine Monteils. The property is stunning, with lovely gardens, a great pool and beautifully restored old stone buildings and a winery. Our Gite was perfect, beautifully appointed with everything we could need. Frederic and Richard were great hosts, always happy to help and provided great tips on places to see in the local area. We would definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed for a perfect week with Frederic and Richard. They were wonderful host that answered all our questions about the area and the apartment. We stayed in the Pavillion Matheo and it was amazing... exactly what it looks like in the photos. It is spacious with impeccable design that combines the original features of the Domaine with modern touches of style and convenience. The grounds are beautiful, even in January, so I can only imagine what they must be like in the summer. There are so many fantastic places to visit within an hour drive that show off the culture and history of the area and Fred is very helpful with suggestions! But in all honestly, you do not even have to leave the Domaine to enjoy your vacation. Sleeping in, walks and bike rides during the day, cooking delicious meals in your perfectly appointed kitchen and the spa with some champagne under the stars at night... what more do you need!

The place to be in southern France! Very tasteful old but entirely renewed former vineyard. Clean and comfy apartment with lots of private space so that you nearly think you´re alone. If I was to dream about an old vineyard it`ll pretty much look like this. The hosts, Frederic and Richard are totally friendly, helpful and hospitable. They seemed to be available almost 24/7. If you have a question about anything they are always eager to help, even late at night. All in all they really care so that you feel welcomed. We are still fairly young (30/31) and have lots to see in this world and there is almost no reason to come back to a place twice so when we say we will come back it has to be good. It is a secret tip by now but I guess it won´t be for long because you will have to travel far to find a matching place. So why am I writing all of this? It will only attract more guests... From the first e-mail exchanges with our hosts, Richard and Frederic, we already knew that this is going to be a vacation of a life time, and we were not wrong. A true heaven. The site itself is much bigger than it looks on the web-site. Such a place can easily accommodate many, but with only few gites, we always felt by ourselves. Yet, we were catered for every need, as our hosts were always available. Even after we left, we were still informed about places to visit and restaurants to book afterwards.. I will highly recommend this Domaine for couples that wish to escape a little bit from the city life, yet like to easily reach towns and villages, discover the landscape and hike. Also highly recommended to gay couples!

My wife and I recently spent a wonderful week at Le Domaine de Monteils. We stayed in La Suite Luna which has only recently been available. As can be seen from the photo's It is decorated and equipped to a very high standard in a modern style and with great attention to detail. We particularly appreciated the Italian style walk in shower, spa bath and entertainment centre.
We loved the large deep swimming pool and the hammocks dotted around the property where we could spend a lazy afternoon. Our hosts, Frederic and Richard were really attentive and did their utmost to ensure that we had a great stay. I highly recommend this as a place to stay for a couple wishing to spend a peaceful & romantic week in the Languedoc countryside. We will certainly return to this little bit of paradise!

Domaine de Monteils, is by far, the most gorgeous place we have ever stayed in. The flair and good taste of the owners is apparent at every corner of the large property. The suites themselves are jaw-dropping beautiful. The attention to detail is beyond anything we have ever experienced at this reasonable price. The owners are gentile, charming and accommodating while preserving your privacy. Lucky, are those who stay. Thank you for a most wonderful stay! We loved everything. After almost 7 weeks touring all around the south of France and many parts of Spain - our stay with you was the very best of all.

Just as promised I would like to write to you and thank you for your immense hospitality, it was a sheer joy to stay in your wonderful, tastefully decorated Gite. We had everything we needed. Perfect privacy and the perfect hideaway. Beautifully landscaped gardens and a super pool. The Gite has all mod cons and is immaculately clean. It truly was a pleasure staying there. The Jacuzzi is a blessing in the evenings and it all works wonderfully well. The historic nature of the buildings all adds to the pleasure of staying at this accommodation. We stayed in the Timeo Gite and i highly recommend it to any other visitors to France who enjoy peace and solitude. There is plenty to do in the area and great for Cycling. We will be returning to this part of France again and will definitely recommend you to all friends and family. Thank you once again for a truly memorable 50th Birthday for Mike and also giving us a great holiday experience in France. Unforgettable.

A beautiful space in a gorgeous setting, and the nicest, most helpful hosts you could ask for. We got snowed in while there - the most snow that area had gotten in over 50 years! - and Richard and Frederic let us stay on an extra night. They were very sweet hosts, and the hot tub made the whole snowed-in experience totally perfect

We booked for a week and could happily have stayed for a month. This place is truly exceptional; the accommodation is very stylish but has everything practical to ensure that self catering is very easy. The ambiance is certainly peaceful, the most disturbing noise was the persistent call of the cuckoos!! Extremely relaxing, beautiful pool and gardens, plenty to visit both locally and further afar. Very friendly and helpful proprietors who go out of their way to ensure your stay is most enjoyable

After a fantastic stay in the Pavillon Mathéo last year, I really didn't think it would be possible for Frederic and Richard to exceed our expectations, but I was wrong!

Once again, they were the perfect hosts, so charming in every way and throughout the stay, whether we bumped into or called in on them it was just like visiting friends we'd known for years. The Loft Benjamin is like a cathedral and the love and care poured into it permeate every room. As always, the attention to detail make the Domaine the best gîte-style accommodation in which I have ever stayed and the atmosphere is just so special - although the Domaine was full, it was as if we were the only two people in the world!

My husband and I, with our daughter stayed in Pavilion Matheo for 7 days and it was superb. Richard and Frederic are the most kind, generous and perfect hosts. Frederic kindly set out an itinerary for us with great suggestions of "must sees" which were all fabulous. The accommodation was beautiful. It very well appointed and located for travelling around the region and also into Provence. Although we were there in January we still used the outdoor spa which was an unexpected delight. The property is extremely well loved and looked after with amazing attention to detail, and the hosts are magnificent . Many thanks Richard and Frederic for such a memorable holiday.

We had an absolutely amazing week-long stay with Richard & Frédéric. Their space was superb, quite, totally relaxing, very private and extremely comfortable. Domaine de Monteils was, without a doubt, our favourite stop during our time in France. The hosts were extremely welcoming. Richard was warm, charming and though a bit self-conscious about his English, he worked hard to communicate with us and did everything he could to make our stay a lovely one. Frédéric was also an ultimate host; full of local knowledge, pointers for what to see and great suggestions for day trips. Their book and DVD collection was a lovely 'extra' (especially because we'd been traveling light) and the private spa was immaculately clean and a real treat. We can't say enough about this place and we'll definitely recommend it to our friends... though with the worry that it would be all booked out when we want to go back next time! When I was researching places to stay in the South of France I looked at many nice places. I finally came upon the Domaine de Monteils and my heart skipped a beat. Richard and Frederic have restored a 9th century Priory to exquisite form. The photos are beautiful and very accurate but don't quite capture the charm, ambiance and beautiful energy that you feel once you are there. Richard and Frederic are warm, friendly, flexible, funny and very knowledgeable about the area. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay of nearly a month and felt comfortable, safe and spoiled. I enjoyed many wonderful conversations and explanations of renovations. I highly recommend the Domaine de Monteils for a nice romantic get away or for a wonderful solo journey. The hosts will take excellent care of you as well give you plenty of personal space to relax and enjoy your stay. My stay here will always be remembered with fond memories. Amazing in every way!

This place is amazing. But you really have to go out of your way to stay here but totally worth it. The hosts are wonderful and the place is stunningly beautiful. It is definitely "off the beaten path" but a true immersion into French country living at it's finest. Great day trips in every direction but staying at the villa and relaxing is just as enjoyable. We even socialized with other guests which was a lot of fun. Would absolutely visit again and hope to soon! Thanks Frederic and Richard for a memorable experience, a true highlight of our three week trip in France.
